In “Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk,” there’s joy to spare.In the space of an hour and 40 minutes with intermission, Wolfe, Glover and a company that includes four gifted tappers (Vincent Bingham, Dule Hill, Jimmy Tate, Baakari Wilder), blues songstress Ann Duquesnay, rap poet Reg E. Gaines and composers Zane Mark and Daryl Waters, along with a trio of street percussionists (Jared Crawford, Raymond King, Larry Wright), power their way through a sort of annotated history of responding to the beat. The disc is in MINT condition and Jewel case is near MINT as it may have a few very very minor surface scuffs which are barely noticeable. It follows through lynchings, through minstrelsy and Hollywood’s trivilization of black dancing, up to the urban unrest of the past three decades.But “Da Noise” is no docudrama, at least not in any sense you’ve seen before.
