Looking to get a Brompton in the next few weeks on the cycle to work scheme (UK).
Can’t make my mind up between getting the B75 (and adding mudguards) vs paying ~£200 more for the M3L.The gear issue, I wouldnt get lower than 6, I use all of them but I also ride a lot of hilly terrain.I own an M6L and my better half has a B75.If you like working on a bike, then the B75 is not a bad choice.

I find myself upgrading stock components on my "regular" Brompton as time passesI own a M6R and I wouldnt buy anything less tbh.The B75 pedals are the most annoying of the mix.

The shorter seat post is also a plus for me (relatively short guy).If you take a look at Brilliant Bikes ( a UK shop) they have a YouTube channel which is an excellent resource for technical advice and hands on explanations and demonstrations of lots of Brompton bikes, components and accessories.That said, the B75 with mudguards, front luggage block and eezy wheels is a great bike, and still comes in a fair bit cheaper than the equivalent “real” brommie.I got myself an M3L a few weeks ago, I was choosing between the B75, M3L and M6L.I bought a B75 a couple of months ago. Last year one of my fellow Brompton Club riders Simon bought a Brompton B75, which I suppose is very much the entry bike into the rabbit hole that can be all things Brompton.
